PURPOSE:To provide the backup system for an optical fiber in which an optical fiber for usual optical communication and an optical fiber for backup are all effectively utilized. CONSTITUTION:A reception port selection section 17 selects a reception optical fiber 33 or 34 according to a link status signal outputted from O/E conversion sections 15, 16. When a backup optical fiber 34 is selected, a transmission signal selection section 11 sends a raw light signal RLL in place of an idle signal IDL. A reception signal discrimination section 28 detects the raw light signal RLL from a received signal, then the backup optical fiber 34 is selected. Thus, the backup for the transmission and reception optical fibers is implemented once each in total up to twice. |
