The system of interdependent jamming devices according to the invention applies to two antagonistic tackles which, on board sailing ships, position the traveller (carriage) (25) for the mainsail sheet (1) on a rail (26) transverse to the axis of the ship. It comprises two pivoting pulley jammers (27b, 27t) located at the ends of the tackles, connected by a mechanical link such as a connecting rod (17) located so as automatically to unlock one tackle when starting to haul the other taut. The system can be used equally well for jamming devices on a traveller as mounted at the ends of the rail. <IMAGE>
