PURPOSE:To increase uniformity of machining accuracy by making a bearing holding through-hole of the same diameter at right and left housings, and providing a positioning gear and a stopper in the holes, in the bearing housings in which a parallel shaft gear for speed reduction is supported by bearings provided on both right and left side of a case. CONSTITUTION:In a gear case 1 of a speed reducer, a through hole for holding a bearing is drilled from the side of an upper gear case 3 and a lower gear case 4 assembled integrally with each other. In this case, the through-hole form a housing at both ends for holding and fixing bearings 6, 6. In the middle of one housing, a groove 14 for positioning the bearing 6 is provided in circumferential direction, and a stopper 15 is installed in the groove 14. Then the bearings 6, 6 are inserted into both ends of a gear shaft 2 and fixed with bearing nuts 16, 16, respectively, and the upper gear case 3 is placed to fix it to the lower gear case 4. In addition, covers 9, 9 are installed from both outer sides of the gear case on the through-hole portion to retain the bearings 6, 6, respectively.
