A disk player (1) for use of playback of both of the single body of a digital optical disk (100) and another digital optical disk (101) encased in a cartridge (110) by a single player. The disk player (1) comprises a disk tray (20) which is mounted on a main chassis (10) and adapted to make its reciprocating movement in the fore-and-aft direction of the player (1) to carry the single body of the disk (100, 101) to a predetermined position in the player (1). A cartridge carrier (40) is mounted on a sub-chassis (30) connected to and located above the main chassis (10) and makes its reciprocating movement in the fore-and-aft direction to carry the cartridge encasing (2) therein the disk (100, 101) to another predetermined position in the player (1). A mechanical chassis (50) is tiltably connected to and located below the main chassis (10) and movable upwardly and downwardly. A turntable (70) is rotatably mounted on the mechanical chassis (50) and driven by a motor (85) supported on the mechanical chassis (50). Either one of the disks (100, 101) carried at the predetermined position is mounted on the turntable (70) to be played back.
