PURPOSE:To quench with a laser beam with an improved workability by providing an optical transmission line and a catoptric system in the hole of an object to be quenched. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam from a laser light source is conducted by the optical transmission line 3 and emitted to a specified direction while keeping a distance from the catoptric system 4 within a certain range and moving. By the catoptric system 4 rotating and moving in the shaft direction, the laser beam is reflected and the inside surface of the hole is irradiated. Temperature rises at the inside surface irradiated with the laser beam 5, and the surface is quenched. Since the area irradiated with the laser beam 5 is moved spirally on the inside surface of the hole 2, a heat-quenched part 6 in a spiral shape is formed on the inside surface of the hole 2. When the object 1 to be quenched is rotatable and movable, the heat-quenched part 6 is formed by stopping the catoptric system 4 and moving the object to be quenched while rotating it. |
