PURPOSE:To obtain an optical multipelxer/demultiplexer which is simpler and easy to use by providing plural slanting incidence parallel boundary surface in a transparent base and arranging optical filters which have different characteristic on the boundary surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The optical filters 3 arranged on the slanting incidence parallel boundary surfaces 2 have the different characteristics. Namely, a figure (B) shows a case wherein the constitution shown in a figure (A) operates as a multiplexer. When optical signals 6a-6c which differ in wavelength are made incident on the light incidence surface 5 of the transparent base 1, the light signals are selectively reflected and transmitted by the optical filters 3a-3c and emitted as one composite light signal 7 from the light projection surface 4. A figure (C) shows a case wherein the constitution shown in the figure (A) operates as a demultiplexer. When the composite optical signal 8 composed of the optical signals different in wavelength is made incident on the light incidence surface 4, the optical signal is selectively reflected and transmitted by the optical filters 3a-3c depending upon their wavelengths, so that the separated optical signals 9a-9c are emitted from the light out going surface 5. |
