TRANSMISSION TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

摘要

PURPOSE:To reduce the thickness and weight of a liquid crystal display module and to obtain an adequate black and white display at a high contrast. CONSTITUTION:A supertwisted nematic liquid crystal element 10 having 200 to 280 deg. twisted angle is installed with two sheets of uniaxially stretched phase difference films 5, 6 between the liquid crystal element and a polarizing plate 4. The refractive index anisotropy of the liquid crystal element and the phase difference films, the axial angles of the polarizing plate and the phase difference films and the color temp. of an illuminating light source are set at prescribed values. The thickness and weight of the liquid crystal display device are reduced in this way and the display of the high contrast and visual field angle is obtd.
