PURPOSE:To reduce user's plant and equipment investment and to save an installation space or the like by allowing one device to process both of cash cards and prepaid cards. CONSTITUTION:This card reader/writer has a thickness detecting means 6 for detecting the thickness of an inserted card, gap correcting mechanisms 7, if 9 for correcting the gap of an input means carrying mechanism for inputting the thickness of a card inputted by a customer and a driving means 10 for driving the correcting mechanisms 7, 8 and 9 and corrects the gap of the carrying mechanism in accordance with a thickness detection signal outputted from the means 6 or the input contents of the customer. |
