PURPOSE:To attain stereoscopic picture display through the use of existing device configuration easily, to use an observation eyeglass excellent in a sense of mount and to realize the display device simply and inexpensively. CONSTITUTION:A pi cell 14 and a 1/4 wavelength plate 15 are arranged in front of a liquid crystal video projector 11 and a video player 12 is used to apply time division project to left and right visual difference image for each frame (or several frames). The pi cell 14 is subject to on/off drive synchronously with the time division projection and gives a polarized light direction respectively orthogonal to the left right visual difference image resulting from a linearly polarized light in the same polarized light direction at a radiation point of time of the liquid crystal video projector 11 and the observer perceives a stereoscopic picture by the observation through an observation eyeglass 16 formed by arranging the 1/4 wavelength plate 17 and linearly polarized light plates 18a, 18b having the polarized light direction orthogonal in the horizontal direction overlappingly. |
