<p>Silyl polymers containing hydrolyzable silane groups such as silyl polyethylene are cured with water, usually in the presence of catalyst to form cross-linked products e.g. wire coatings. Precure occurring in the extruder is reduced by addition of an epoxy silane containing hydrolyzable groups or a silane having at least two Si atoms each attached to a hydrolyzable group and bonded together with an organic bridging group with one or more carbon backbones interrupted by N, S, P or O. The silane can also stabilize against copper or oxidative deterioration or thermal ageing.</p> |
