A modified polysiloxane compound having a phenol skeleton controlled in molecular weight and molecular structure. It can be produced by conducting the anionic homopolymerization of a compound represented by general formula (I) wherein the phenolic hydroxyl group is protected with a saturated aliphatic protective group or the anionic copolymerization thereof with a compound copolymerizable therewith, adding a cyclic siloxane compound to the formed polymer to effect copolymerization, and removing the protective group (a) wherein R<1> represents hydrogen or methyl. |
