Prepn. of poly:alkylene di:oxy:thiophene - from alkylene:di:oxy:thiophene by electrochemical polymerisation having good conductivity

The prepn. of polyalkylenedioxythiophenes is from alkylenedioxy-thiophenes of formula (I) in the presence of solvents of formula R2-O(CH2-CH(R1)-O-nR3 (II) by electrochemical polymerisation. A = opt. substd. 1-4C alkylene, pref. opt. alkyl substd. methylene, or ethylene-1,2 ???? opt. substd. by 1-12C by 1-12C alkyl or phenyl, or 5-7C cycloalkylene-1,2; R1 = H or CH3; R2, R3 = H, alkyl, or acyl; and n = 1-5. ADVANTAGE - Provides an improved process which gives prods. with high enough conductivity for general use.
