The data transmission method for earth boring machinery uses a conductive fluid as a medium. A hose containing the fluid surrounds a transmitter ring core forcing a transmission flow which can be detected by a receiver toroidal coil in certain places also surrounded by the hose. The electrical circuit is closed through sender and receiver and earthing of the fluid column, if not closed by the fluid. USE/ADVANTAGE - Data can be transmitted from drill head to the surface or vice versa.
