A method for obtaining blood from a patient comprises: (a) iontophoretic delivery of a bacteriocide through the patient's skin, and (b) obtaining blood through the skin area of (a). Using this method the effects of contaminants which are responsible for large numbers of false positives can be reduced. Apart from enhancing accurate diagnosis, the method also has economic benefits by eliminating unnecessary hospital stays, testing, and consulting. |
