The fault-location distance measuring circuit has voltage and current converters at one end of the toll line. The output of an exciting element, e.g. hand generator, is connected to the activating input of a measuring unit and the input of a counter and indicator unit. The measuring unit contains a voltage signal store, a current signal store and a quotient forming unit. The counter and indicator unit contains a unit controlling engagement and an indicator device. The output of the counter and indicator unit is connected to the control input of the protection and automatic system.
