CONSTITUTION:When a power source part 5 of a pointer device 9 is in an ON state, a signal monitoring part 2 monitors an STB signal 11 from a host device 1. At that time, when the power source of the host device l is turned OFF, the STB signal 11 is turned to 0. When a time when the STB signal is 0 is beyond a fixed time, the signal monitoring part 2 transmits a power source OFF signal to a power source control part 3, and the power source control part 3 turns ON an auxiliary power source part 4, and turns OFF the power source part 5. The auxiliary power source part 4 supplies a power source only to the signal monitoring part 2, and the power source control part, and the signal monitoring part 2 continues to monitor the STB signal 11.
