ELECTROLYTE HOLDER AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

PURPOSE: To obtain a manufacturing method and a manufacturing device for a solid electrolyte holder for an electrode for a chemical battery. CONSTITUTION: A layer of fine grain material containing solid electrolyte or its precursor is formed round a mandrel 28 having a thread on the outside. In order to form unworked holder having an internal thread formed by the threads 34, 38 of the mandrel 28, a layer 46 of fine grain material is uniformly formed by pressurization. The mandrel 28 is turned in the axial direction to be removed from the unworked holder. The unworked holder is sintered to provide a holder shaped like a single polycrystalline ceramic solid electrolyte workpiece.
