PURPOSE:To prevent an IC card and an IC card reader/writer to be mounted on a portable apparatus from being damaged by minimizing the exposed size of the IC card inserted into the IC card reader/writer from ICs card inserting port. CONSTITUTION:Since the IC card reader/writer is consisted of a holding means for holding an IC card 10 inserted into a card inserting route and a means for releasing the holding state by the moving operation of a card ejecting button 21 and ejecting the IC card 10, it is unnecessary to eject the card 10 while directly grasping the card 10 with a user's hand, the exposed size of the card 10 in the inserted state from the card inserting port can be minimized and the card 10 can be prevented from being jammed.
