<p>PURPOSE:To supply information relating to a picture mode of a conversion output to an external device without revision of a connection cable by providing a picture mode type superimposing means to the converter so as to superimpose the information relating to the designation of the picture mode onto a color signal. CONSTITUTION:A picture mode type information superimposing means 63 is provided with a low frequency signal generating circuit 63b having a signal generation/stop control terminal 63a. Picture mode information MJ being an AC signal is superimposed on a color signal C through a superimposition resistor 63C in the squeeze mode. Then a television signal converter 1 superimposes and outputs the information MJ relating to the picture designated by a conversion selection means 3 onto the color signal C being a luminance signal/color signal separation output. Then the picture mode employed for the current output is commanded to an external device such as a picture reproducing device and a picture signal recorder connecting to a connection section 5 by a connection cable. Then the information relating to the picture mode for the conversion output is fed to the external device without revision of the connection cable.</p> |
