This method for balancing a flexible rotor (1) comprises the following steps, consisting: in making the rotor turn and in monitoring the vibrations of the rotor in order to determine the resonant speed; in applying to the rotor, or to the bearings (8a, 8b) supporting the rotor, vibration excitation forces synchronised with the rotation of the rotor in two orthogonal directions (X, Y), whilst causing the rotor to rotate at a speed close to the resonance speed; in determining the amplitude and the phase of the excitation force of vibrations which reduce the resonant vibrations of the rotor; in determining a corrective weight on the basis of the amplitude and of the phase; in carrying out a balancing operation on the rotor, such as grinding of the rotor or addition to the rotor of a mass as a function of the corrective weight, this being followed by rotation of the rotor in order to confirm the effect of the corrective weight. <IMAGE> |
