Assembly to filter fluid incorporates a filter belt which prior to disposal is cut to length by a knife which is secured to a fixing assembly, preventing filter belt movement. Fixing assembly is primarily formed along a sepn. line, and runs transversely to the longitudinal side of the filter belt. Fixing assembly covers the entire width and beyond the marginal areas of the belt. USE/ADVANTAGE - The arrangement facilitates safe and reliable cutting of the filter belt to length. A suitable assembly incorporates a fixing assembly (18) which secures the filter belt (13). The fixing assembly extends over the entire width of the filter belt and beyond the margin of the belt (24). The fixing assembly consists of a permanently secured base (19) and a pressure beam (20) moving relative to the base. The base (19) is divided and has two supporting beams (21) between which the cutters (17, 29) move. The cutter blades extend beyond the width of the supporting beams. The cutter rotates in operation.
