A friction-type shoe brake composed of a brake pulley embraced by two brake shoes with friction lining, namely a fixed shoe and a movable shoe, which from one side are fastened to each other directly while from the other side they are fastened to each other indirectly by means of an adjusting screw, whereas the latter end of the fixed shoe is connected with a fork-shaped connecting member which constitutes an extension of a brake lever, characterized in that it is equipped with a counter lever (20), whose one end is fastened to the fixed shoe (2), while on the other free end of the counter lever (20) there is a housing slidably fastened by means of a bolt (21) with an adjusting nut (22), in which housing there is a spring (24) placed on the bolt (21) so that one end of the spring abuts against (24) the housing's (23) bottom while its other end abuts against the head (25) of the bolt (21), and moreover the housing (23) is connected with the brake lever (8).<IMAGE>
