This securing arm is intended for a breathing mask (1), provided with two lateral securing arms (5) each consisting of two elements mounted slidably with respect to each other. The first element (9) is linked by articulation (at 15) to one side of the mask (1); this element consists of a stirrup piece with two parallel branches (10) mounted slidably in the second element (7). This other element is provided, at the rear, with a hook (6) provided in order to interact with a hooking notch (4) located on one side of the crown of the helmet (3). Spring means tend to cause the two elements to penetrate into each other. A securing arm of small thickness is thus obtained. <IMAGE>
