PURPOSE:To couple each optical fiber at a low loss, and to provide the multifiber matrix optical fiber switch of a small size and high density. CONSTITUTION:At the time of executing switching of the optical fiber switch, first of all, units 10-1, 10-2 of a desired row or column are selected by a fitted parts moving mechanism 18, and a connecting part 18a of the fitted parts moving mechanism 18 is connected to a projecting piece 19 of driven wires 12-l, 12-2 of theme selected units 10-1, 10-2. Simultaneously, by a fitted parts detaching mechanism 20, the desired unit 10-1 is selected, each wire detaining part 21 is driven, and coupling of fitted parts 11-1, 11-2 is released. Thereafter, the fitted parts 11-1 or 11-2 are moved to a position opposed to the fitted parts of a coated optical fiber 1, driving of each wire detaining part 21 of the fitted parts detaching mechanism 20 is released and each fitted parts are butted. |
