PURPOSE:To obtain the image fiber of multiple picture elements which can transmit the object in an extremely narrow place in a blood vessel or the like as a bright image and have extremely small diameters. CONSTITUTION:The core of a fiber constituting the image fiber is constituted of single substance of germanium oxide. The clad is constituted of a glass which can be made into >=75% specific refractive index difference and has 10<5> to 10<6> poise viscosity at 120 deg.C. The more specific example of the glass to be used as the clad includes germanium oxide/boron oxide/fluorine glass. The core diameter of the fiber can be reduced to <=1mum by the combination of such glass. The image fiber of the multiple picture elements having the extremely small diameter is thus obtd. |
