The sandwich ink jet printer head is formed from a number of individual plates for the ink channels, the drive elements, the pressure chambers and the jet openings and is welded in a dual-in-line housing. This has a reception opening for the sandwich printer head in its top face and separate openings (36,44) in its bottom face for the electrical connections and for the ink feed. The sandwich printer head has a resistance array (30) aligned with the electrical connection opening (36) after its insertion in the dual-in-line housing to allow adjustment of the printer head. The ink feed connection for the printing head is effected via a spring adaptor.
