<p>The invention relates to inks capable of being thrown onto an article by a jet.
<??>The invention lies in the fact that the ink comprises:
(a) from zero (plus) to forty per cent on a mass basis of one or more metal salts which are soluble in a solvent,
(b) zero to forty per cent on a mass basis of one or more solvents,
(c) zero to five per cent of one or more organic dyes,
(d) zero to ten per cent of a polymer,
(e) one or more solvents which are more volatile than the solvents of (b).
