The invention relates to bearing alloys based on aluminium and tin (Al - Sn), as well as to a bearing material prepared by applying the said alloys to a steel plate by projection welding (pressure welding). The alloy contains 3-35 wt-% of tin and 0.1-10 wt-% of chromium, while the rest can be aluminium. The alloy can also contain one or more further constituents chosen from a group of specified additives comprising silicon, manganese, antimony, titanium, zirconium, nickel, iron, tungsten, cerium, niobium, vanadium, molybdenum, barium, calcium and cobalt, a total of 3 wt-% or less of copper and/or magnesium, and a total of 9 wt-% or less of one or more constituents chosen from a group comprising lead, bismuth, thallium, cadmium and indium, as a result of which the properties of the alloy are improved. The above additives are used in an amount of 1-10 wt-% when the chromium content does not exceed 1 wt-%. When the chromium content is over 1 wt-%, the total amount of chromium and the above additives is greater than 1 wt-% but less than 10 wt-%. |
