APPARATUS FOR CUTTING MATERIAL FROM A WORKPIECE TO REPLICATE AN ORIGINAL ARTICLE Apparatus for cutting material from a workpiece to replicate an original article comprises a counter top on which is mounted a first article support and a workpiece support spaced horizontally along the counter top. A horizontal support rod carries a probe at one end for engaging with the article and a router at the opposed end for engaging the workpiece to cut the workpiece to the required shape in dependence upon the movement of the probe around the article. The support rod is carried in a frame which allows vertical, horizontal, rotational and longitudinal sliding movement of the rod. The frame is mounted in a plane at right angles to the length of the rod so that the frame is positioned at an end of a cabinet surrounding the workpiece. The frame includes horizontal rods and vertical rods allowing the vertical and sliding movements together with a sleeve receiving the support rod which allows rotational and longitudinal sliding movement. The workpiece and article can be placed on commonly rotatable turntables or can be placed upon a simple flat surfaces for two dimensional relief work.
