PURPOSE:To select the best combination of translation expressions corresponding to expressions in an input document on a machine translation system. CONSTITUTION:The system is equipped with a source language expression restriction knowledge control means 3 and an object language expression restriction knowledge control means 5 which gather and store the strength of connections of expressions appearing in a text by text functions from source language real text examples and object language real text examples so as to obtain very strong equivalent selection algorithm for the machine translation system. An equivalent selecting means 2 determines a set of equivalent expressions according to the strength of connections stored in the object language expression restriction knowledge control means 5 so as to maintain the strength of connections between input element expressions stored in the source language expression restriction knowledge control means 3, thereby determining the equivalent expression set in an expression equivalent dictionary means 4 for the element expression set in the input sentence extracted by a machine translating means 1. |
