PURPOSE:To attain quick setting to a focal position by driving plural sector lenses whose focal distance is different at a fired speed and using a focal distance of a lens relating to signal with highest sharpness in detected image pickup signals as a focal position. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup lens 1 in which plural sector lenses whose focal distance differs are arranged at an equal circumferential angle is driven by a motor 6 while its optical axis is used for a drive axis. An object image is formed on face of an image pickup element 3 via the lens 1. An image pickup processing section 4 monitors the processing of the image forming state. Then from which of plural sector lenses being components of the lens 1 an image pickup signal with highest sharpness is obtained is recognized and the sector lens offering a signal with the highest sharpness is used for the focal position. Then only the image pickup signal is collected and processed from a drive synchronization position under the control of the processing section 4 and stored in a storage section 5. Thus, the focal position is quickly obtained without movement of the lens 1 in the optical axis direction. |
