Mfg. thermal head for printer - using glazed layer on substrate with resistance layer, electrodes and protective coating

A glazed layer (2) is formed on a substrate (1) and on this is a layer (3) of a thin-film resistance material formed by combining a high melting point metal with an insulator. Two conductors (4,5) are formed on the resistance layer to act as electrodes. The final layer is a protective film (6) covering conductors and the resistance layer exposed between them. The resistance layer is heated to a higher temp. than a spot temp. required for printing. ADVANTAGE - Even control of heating resistance values for each point unit for better print quality.
