Three additional cams (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) axially offset between bearings of the camshaft are adjusted by the pistons (4-6) of respective motors to which fluid is supplied via hydraulic lines (2.6, 2.7, 2.17) with non-return valves (11, 12, 18). The first two cams (1.1, 1.2) set the variable limits of angular movement while the third cam (1.3) limits the flexible coupling between the camshaft and its drive wheel (2.3). Stepwise angle variation is possible under rotational vibrations of the shaft. ADVANTAGE - Smooth rotation of the camshaft w.r.t. its drive wheel is possible over wide range of speeds with min. requirement for hydraulic fluid.
