PURPOSE:To obtain an economically high liquid yield of liquefied oil by using a mixture of needlelike goethite produced by carrying out oxidative reaction of ferrous sulfate, etc., in an alkaline aqueous solution with a sulfur-containing substance as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Coal is liquefied by using a mixture of (A) needlelike goethite produced by passing an oxygen-containing gas through an alkaline aqueous solution of ferrous sulfate or ferrous chloride as a raw material and carrying out oxidative reaction with (B) a sulfur-containing substance as a catalyst. Furthermore, the amount of the blended component (A) is 1-5wt.% based on the dry weight of the coal and the molar ratio (S/Fe) of iron in the component (A) to sulfur in the component (B) is 1-3. |
