<p>PURPOSE:To provide the title dye excellent in solubility in a hydrophilic org. solvent and useful for an ink by selecting a specific salt-forming dye. CONSTITUTION:A salt-forming dye of formula I {wherein D is a residue of a monoazo or disazo dye; (m) is 1-3; (n) is 1-4; and M<+> is a cation selected from the group consisting of groups of formula II [wherein R<1> to R<4> are each H, (alkoxy)alkyl, cyclohexyl, aralkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or polyoxyalkylene provided at least one of them is 4C or higher alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cyclohexyl, aralkyl, or polyoxyalkylene], formula III [wherein R<5> to R<8> are each H, alkyl, or (substd) phenyl provided at least one of them is (substd.)phenyl], and formula IV (wherein R<9> and R<10> are each H or alkyl provided they are not simultaneously H; and (a) is 3 or higher)} is selected.</p> |
