Disclosed is the use of dialkyl ethers of the formula (I): R<1>-O-R<2>, in which R<1> and R<2>, independently of each other, can be straight-chain or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon groups with 6 to 22 carbon atoms and with one or no double bond, optionally together with non-ionic surfactants, in controlling the foaming of low-foam cleaning agents.
