A real time probe device (1000) for a digital signal processor having a multiported data RAM (100), a time division multiplexed data RAM bus (125), and a processor (400) includes a programmable comparator (1010) coupled to the address lines of the data RAM bus (125) for determining that data is being written to a location of the RAM (100) specified by the comparator (1010), a circuit (1060a) for receiving the data on the data lines of the RAM bus (125) and for writing the data to a buffer in the RAM (100), a reading circuit (1060b) for obtaining data from the buffer. Preferably, a digital to analog converter (1070), in the probe, regularly receive data from the RAM (100) and provides an analog signal output. The average data rate at which data is written to the buffer should be the same as the rate at which data is obtained from the buffer (fig. 6) for D/A conversion. |
