PURPOSE:To obtain the panel light source device which allows easy forming and working, has high luminance and a uniform luminance distribution by using a specific paper in a light reflection layer. CONSTITUTION:A light reflection layer 2 consisting of paper dispersed with an inorg. metallic salt having a light diffusion function is disposed on the base of a transparent substrate 1 to form a light transmission plate. Wire-shaped light sources 3 are disposed on the side faces of the light transmission plate. Cathode ray tubes and fluorescent lamps are used as the wire-shaped light sources 3. A light diffusion plate 4 is used for further uniformize the distribution of the luminance. The light transmission plate is formed by combining the transparent substrate 1 and the light reflection layer 2 in such a manner and the luminance which is high and uniform up to the central part of the light transmission plate is obtd. by the effect of the light reflection layer 2. The brightness is, however, slightly low near the wire-shaped light sources 3 and, therefore, the light of the wire-shaped light sources 3 is efficiently used by covering the peripheries of the wire-shaped light sources 3 and the spacing with the light exit end face of the light transmission plate, by which the panel light source having the brightness high over the entire part is usable. |
