PURPOSE:A cardiotonic agent, containing a specific oxindole derivative or a salt thereof as an active constituent, having increasing action on myocardial contraction and coronary blood stream, and useful for treating cardiopathy, e.g. congestive heart failure with little influence on heart rate. CONSTITUTION:A cardiotonic agent obtained by incorporating an oxindole derivative expressed by formula 1 [A is lower alkylene; n is 0 or 1; B is OH or a group expressed by formula 3 (R is H, lower alkyl group, etc.)] and a salt thereof as an active constituent. The compound expressed by formula 1 has increasing action on myocardial contraction (positive inotropic action) and increasing action on coronary blood stream. In particular, the compound is characterized in that the heart rate is not increased or is slightly increased. The compound expressed by formula 1 can be obtained by reacting an oxyindole derivative expressed by formula 1a with a compound expressed by formula 2 using the ordinary amide bond forming reaction. |
