Spanning the joint line between the tops of two adjacent switchgear cabinets (2,3) is internally fitted a locking member (1) extending from front to rear. This is made of sheet metal, flanged all round to form a shallow tray and has mushroom shaped connectors projecting upwards, to pass through keyhole shaped openings (5) in the tops of the cabinets. After the heads of the connectors have been inserted through the large ends (5a) of the openings, the locking member is pushed, forcing the stems of the connectors into the narrower ends (5c) of the openings. In this position, a hole (6) in the member is used to fit a locking screw. An end flange forms a hand grip to slide the member.
