摘要 Foil consists of a carrier and a layer of an X-ray luminescent substance (I) on at least one side, which is covered with a protective layer which is transparent to radiation. The side of the carrier to which (I) has been charged has a honeycomb-like cellular structure in which the cells taper from the exterior to the interior of the carrier and are filled with (I). The luminescent light produced by X-rays in the (I)-crystals on the wall passes to the carrier and passes through an optically denser medium. (I) to an optically less dense medium, the cell walls. Alternatively the luminescent light is reflected on the cell walls by a reflection layer. USE/ADVANTAGE - The foil is esp. suitable for use in X-ray photography in medical diagnoses, and gives sharper images than previously used foils. The black areas are sufficiently intense and definition is high, even if lower X-ray doses are used like blunt pyramids.
