<p>A flexible drive shaft assembly for drivably connecting driving and driven shafts, has for connection to each shaft, a flexible joint casing (1,3) with a socket receiving the end of a drive shaft (2), there being torque transmitting balls (11) received in hardened inserts (12,13), the inserts (12) being fixed in the perimeter of the shaft (2), the inserts (13) being axially slidable in slots (14) in the corresponding casing (1,3), and may be retained therein by an encircling collar (15).
