<p>This relates to a junction box (tapping connector) in which two jaws (18A, 18B) buttress the connection members (19P, 19N) necessary for the junction (tapping) desired. According to the invention, these connection members (19P, 19N) are fixed with respect to the jaws (18A, 18B) and the latter are mounted so as to move with respect to each other under the control of at least one clamping assembly (28) formed from two complementary clamping elements (29A, 29B), at least one of which is always accessible from the outside, irrespective of the position in the trench of the box (connector) mounted on the main cable, so that, on the one hand, when the box (connector) is closed up, an action on one or other of these clamping elements (29A, 29B) is sufficient for making live and, on the other hand, this making live can only be obtained when the box (connector) is thus duly closed up.
