PURPOSE:To obtain a light branching/mixing equipment which is easy to manufacture and reduced in loss. CONSTITUTION:A light mixing/branching equipment consists of the first waveguide passage 11, a mode transformation area 12 which is formed by gradually spreading the width of a waveguide passage in communication with the first waveguide passage, a total reflection mirror 18 which is provided across part of the mode transformation area 12 and has an incoming angle of signal light from the mode transformation area 12 greater than a total reflection critical angle, the second waveguide passage in which signal light forwarded from the residual part of the mode transformation area 12 across which the total reflection mirror 18 does not reach is existing, and the third waveguide passage in which signal light, different in a carried direction from the second waveguide passage, reflected from the total reflection mirror 18 is constituted. |
