PURPOSE:To recover hydrogen chloride-free hydrocarbon compounds, by mixing, with stirring, a solid waste containing synthetic polymers with a particulate inorganic material to form a particulate solidified mixture, and then heat-decomposing the solidified mixture in two stages. CONSTITUTION:A particulate inorganic material such as sand is added to a solid waste containing synthetic polymers. The resulting mixture is heated, with agitation, at a temperature of 120-250 deg.C in a rotary hollow cylinder. A particulate solidified mixture is formed from the softened or molten synthetic polymer and the added inorganic material. Then, this particulate solidified mixture is heat-decomposed in two stages. In the first-stage heat decomposition, the solidified mixture is heated at 250-400 deg.C and mixed and stirred to decompose vinyl chloride and thereby to form hydrogen chloride. In the second-stage heat decomposition, heating is carried out at a temperature of 400-800 deg.C to recover hydrocarbon compounds. By using this two-stage heat decomposition, contamination of hydrogen chloride in recovered hydrocarbons can be prevented.
|
