Manufacture of a cladding material intended to cover a wall. Deposited separately into a mould (A) are, on the one hand, a decorative thin layer 1 made of a first mortar, this thin layer 1 or skin exhibiting or not exhibiting a relief or colours and, on the other hand, a thick layer or structure 2, made of a second mortar mixed with chopped glass fibres and the assembly is then allowed to set (harden). The whole system is demoulded and, on the material thus obtained, a surface treatment, such as gumming (rubber coating), sand-blasting, etc., is optionally applied to the skin 1. Manufacture of a cladding material having individual, and therefore variable, decoration, giving a wall clad with such a material a so-called "living" appearance. <IMAGE>
