The connecting plug for telecommunications equipment has a main housing with a cable (2) connected to the contacts that are located within grooves in the tip section (6). The tip section has a generally rectangular profile and engages in a similar hole in the socket unit. Formed on the top of the tip section is a 'V' shaped latch element (8) with a bridging strip. When the plug is inserted into the socket, the latch deforms to securely engage the units. ADVANTAGE - Simple means of latching plug and does not require tool for separation.
