Dredger with movable bucket on boom - having cover on boom shutting off bucket mouth on completion of movement

The dredger has a movable boom, on whose free end is attached a movable bucket. A drive mechanism moves the bucket over the sea- or river bed etc. to collect the spoil. A cover (16) hinging on the boom (10) is so positioned in the path of the bucket (12) that during the latter's movement over the sea-bed and subsequently the two move towards each other, finally shutting of the bucket mouth when movement is complete. The bucket can hinge via a horizontal axis (13) on the boom, the cover being parallel to this axis. The bucket edge can fit inside the cover, or vice versa.
