PURPOSE:To immediately take a recording interruption or other action when a required recording cannot be obtained to reduce a waste of time and a cost caused by an error recording by mounting an identifying means for identifying a recording state on a recording medium by a recording means simultaneously with recording. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet recorder, a lighting device 5 for lighting a recording medium and an optical system 6 for condensing the reflecting light are mounted on a carriage 3 on the downstream side of a recording head 2 in a main scanning direction. These are driven along guide rails 4a, 4b together with the recording head 2. An optical fiber 11 is connected to the optical system 6. The reflecting light led through the fiber 11 is enlarged by an enlarging optical system 12 provided on the other end of the fiber 11. The enlarged image is projected on a ground glass-form projecting board 13 provided on a recorder body operation part. A user can visually identify a recording state on the recording medium by the projected image simultaneously with recording. If a required recording cannot be obtained, a recording interruption or other action is immediately conducted. |
