Ready-to-eat product based on preserved edible fruits comprising whole fruits or pieces of fruit, without the addition of solutes that control the activity of the water and which do not freeze at temperatures in the range of 0 DEG C to -25 DEG C, and method for preparing the above product by dehydrating whole fruits or pieces of fruit down to a soluble solids content of 40 to 60 %, a moisture content of 35 to 55 % and a water activity level of 0.75 to 0.90.
